When you are having fun, you don’t work a day in your life. We subscribe to that policy and try to make what we do as fun and interesting as possible. Here’s how:
VARIED & INTERESTING WORK
As professional business advisors, our people face new challenges each day. Our clients come from all industries and walks of life. As a result, you can expect to see a wide variety of issues, problems and opportunities.
TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED
Buchanan Barry LLP invests heavily in advanced technology. We operate a “paperless office” where staff use their laptop computers and multiple screens in place of piles of paper.
TAX PARTY
Each year we have a big blow-out on April 30 to celebrate the end of our busiest season. Because no one should be concerned about working the next day, everyone is obliged to take May 1 off (as a Flex Day).
OTHER PARTIES & SOCIAL EVENTS
In addition to the Christmas party, the Buchanan Barry Social Committee (which you can join) organizes various other parties and social events throughout the year: golf day, ski day, Stampeders games, Hitmen games, karaoke and many, many more. Most of these events are either paid for or subsidized by the firm, and spouses and/or other family are almost always invited too!
CALGARY CORPORATE CHALLENGE & CHARITY WORK
Buchanan Barry LLP always has great participation in the Calgary Corporate Challenge, medaling in both athletic and non-athletic events. Our people also get involved in numerous charitable works, including blood drives and fundraising. Our annual United Way campaign highlights the creativity of our people as they find new and unique ways to raise funds for one of our favourite causes.
MILESTONE PROGRAM & SMALL FIRM ENVIRONMENT
Our firm honours its people in small and large ways. We are small enough that everybody knows everybody and works together as a team. Colleagues often find common interests – at work and at play – and pursue them together. We recognize small victories and successes through formal and informal acknowledgement, and we honour the Milestones our people achieve in an annual formal ceremony (with gifts)!
